Transfiguration
A Sonnet
Transfiguration
They saw the Light predating time itself,
The very Light from Light that lit the dawn
Of matter stood before them—Light Himself—
Foreshadowing the coming new Aeon.
There, Moses and Elijah heard once more
The glory of the Lord upon the Mount.
The Rock they stood inside now stood before
Them speaking of the hill He would surmount.
Poor Peter, James, and John could comprehend
None of the mysteries they saw that day.
The Father’s voice. The Spirit’s cloud. Their Friend
Transfigured in an ineffable way.
They’d carry what they saw for all their days,
A light that grew and lit their hope ablaze
.
